Anisotropic Angstrom-Wide Conductive Channels in Black Phosphorus by Top-down Cu Intercalation

نویسندگان

چکیده

Intercalation is an effective method to improve and modulate properties of two-dimensional materials. Even so, spatially controlled intercalation at atomic scale, which important introduce modulated properties, has not been successful due difficulties in controlling the diffusion intercalants. Here, we show formation angstrom-wide conductive channels (~4.3 A) black phosphorus by Cu intercalation. The structure, resultant microstructural effects, mechanism, local variations electronic were investigated extensively transmission electron microscopy including situ observation, DFT calculation, force microscopy.

Anisotropic Particle-Hole Excitations in Black Phosphorus.

We report on the energy- and momentum-resolved optical response of black phosphorus (BP) in its bulk form. Along the armchair direction of the puckered layers, we find a highly dispersive mode that is strongly suppressed in the perpendicular (zigzag) direction. This mode emerges out of the single-particle continuum for finite values of momentum and is therefore interpreted as an exciton. We arg...

Anisotropic Thermal Conductivity of Exfoliated Black Phosphorus.

The anisotropic thermal conductivity of passivated black phosphorus (BP), a reactive two-dimensional material with strong in-plane anisotropy, is ascertained. The room-temperature thermal conductivity for three crystalline axes of exfoliated BP is measured by time-domain thermo-reflectance. The thermal conductivity along the zigzag direction is ≈2.5 times higher than that of the armchair direct...

Black Phosphorus: Narrow Gap, Wide Applications.

The recent isolation of atomically thin black phosphorus by mechanical exfoliation of bulk layered crystals has triggered an unprecedented interest, even higher than that raised by the first works on graphene and other two-dimensionals, in the nanoscience and nanotechnology community. In this Perspective, we critically analyze the reasons behind the surge of experimental and theoretical works o...

Spatial-Temporal Imaging of Anisotropic Photocarrier Dynamics in Black Phosphorus.

As an emerging single elemental layered material with a low symmetry in-plane crystal lattice, black phosphorus (BP) has attracted significant research interest owing to its unique electronic and optoelectronic properties, including its widely tunable bandgap, polarization-dependent photoresponse and highly anisotropic in-plane charge transport. Despite extensive study of the steady-state charg...
